Trans-Siberian highlights
Photo journal by David Frimark
This isn’t really about trains. It’s about the people you end up squeezed together with for days on end — sharing tea, stories, and sometimes a little too much vodka. Along the way on the Trans-Siberian railway, strangers quickly became familiar faces: fellow travelers, conductors, families, and friends we didn’t know we had.
The portraits are warm, sometimes funny, always human. What sticks with me most isn’t the endless tracks or the frozen landscapes, but the small moments of kindness — someone offering food, a laugh shared without words, a nod of understanding.
It’s a reminder that no matter where you are — Moscow, Mongolia, or in the middle of Siberia — people are people, and solidarity often looks like half a sandwich and a smile.
